IPL Auction 2021: Gambhir advises RCB to bank on Maxwell

The players will be auctioned on February 18 for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League. Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have not won a single title of IPL so far, may go for bug names in this year's auction which will be held tomorrow.

Former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir, has advised RCB to place a bet on Glenn Maxwell.

"Probably, they (RCB) will look at someone like Glenn Maxwell because they need to take a lot of pressure out of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers," Gambhir said on Star Sports show 'Cricket Connected - Auction Special'

"… yes, he (Kohli) is more suited to open batting. And he will open with Devdutt Paddikal and then, you have AB de Villiers.

“You want someone like an X-factor, like Maxwell, and at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where it's flat and small, so he can have that impact. So, probably, they (RCB) will look at someone like Maxwell, ”said Gambhir.

Gambhir believes that the inclusion of Maxwell in the team will reduce the pressure on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the batting department.

Virat and company also released Aaron Finch from the top order and with the inclusion of Glenn Maxwell the team will look more stable when it comes to top order havocs.
