He has been fined a substantial sum of Rs 24 lakhs for the offense. As this is the team's second offense in the current season, each member of the playing XI has also been fined Rs 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their match fee, whichever is lower. As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rana has been fined Rs. 24 lakh and each member of the Playing XI, including the impact substitute, is fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever is lesser." Prior to Kolkata Knight Riders' surprising victory over Chennai Super Kings on their home ground, Nitish Rana engaged in a heated discussion with the on-field umpires. The incident occurred just before the final over of the CSK innings. The Knight Riders were penalized for surpassing the time allotted to complete all 20 overs.
