IPL 2023: BCCI issues new and massive guideline for franchise owners, big change to occur in the tournament

IPL 2023: The IPL franchises are in trouble. The BCCI has ordered NCA to collaborate with IPL franchises to regulate workload and keep an eye on players' fitness during IPL 2023 in light of the growing injury concern. In order to better control workload and injuries, the Indian Cricket Board decided to take certain strict measures during a review meeting. Since the NCA will continue to communicate with franchisees, players like Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Burma, and Hardik Pandya may only participate in the competition under a "Conditional NOC."

Many senior players on watch during IPL 2023

Some of the top players in the IPL 2023 may very probably be rotated or given some downtime due to the directive. It is disappointing that IPL clubs would have to sideline players who have a history of injuries after spending crores of rupees on them. Rohit Sharma, the vice-captain and skipper of the Mumbai Indians, and Jasprit Bumrah are just a couple of the players on the list. CSK will also have Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja in mind. For India's hopes of winning the World Cup in 2023, all four players are essential. Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, will even need to take it easy.

An official anonymously said "It is a hassle and it is not at the same time. Players make IPL the best and not franchises. So, it’s important to take care of them. No one would want another Deepak Chahar or Shreyas Iyer to miss entire IPL. They are important for IPL brand. But, at the same time, we will have to carefully manage their workload so that they don’t suffer injuries. That may involve resting them or utlising them carefully to manage workload.”

BCCI shortlisted 20 players for the ODI World Cup 2023

For the October 2023 World Cup, BCCI has chosen 20 players from a shortlist of 60. The NCA has been urged to collaborate with IPL teams on workload management in order to protect the players, per BCCI. Any player returning from an injury layoff must undergo a Dexa test in addition to the Yo-Yo test, per BCCI regulations.

The BCCI has requested the NCA take matters into their own hands as the 2023 World Cup approaches. To control the players' workload, the NCA, under the direction of VVS Laxman, would be in contact with every IPL club. Only conditional NOCs have been provided to high-risk players like Jadeja and Hardik Pandya. When playing for the Gujarat Titans last year, Hardik himself had to miss a few games due to injuries.

A significant amount of games were missed by star players Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah due to fitness issues. Along with missing the South African tour and the fifth Test in England, captain Rohit Sharma. Additionally often injured players are Deepak Chahar, Washington Sundar, Mohammad Shami, and KL Rahul.
