Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli had a nightmare outing in Dubai on Thursday when he and his Royal Chellengers Bangalore side played against the Kings XI Punjab. He dropped two catches and his team failed to maintain the required over-rate, he is now fined INR 12 lakhs ($16,295). Kohli's side lost the game against KXIP by 97 runs.

Kohli dropped the catch of his counterpart KL Rahul twice. First time in the 17th over at deep square-leg when KL was on 83 and then again in the 18th over when he was on 89. Later on, KL Rahul went on scoring a terrific century and became the Indian highest run-scorer in IPL. Rahul also broked legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record to become the fastest Indian batsman to score 2,000 IPL runs. Rahul took 60 innings while Sachin took 63 innings during his time.

“I have to stand in front and take the brunt of it, not the best day in the office, couple of important chances of KL when he was set and that cost us 35-40 runs at a later stage. Maybe if we restricted them to 180 we wouldn’t have been under pressure from ball one of the chase. We know exactly where we went wrong and I have to put my hand up and say should’ve led from the front and taken those two chances,” said Kohli at the post-match presentation.
