India vs Sri Lanka: The Chetan Sharma-led selection committee will have the final say when Team India will be selected for the upcoming series vs Sri Lanka starting early January. Reports say vice-captain KL Rahul and skipper Rohit Sharma will miss the entire series. There are also reports concluding that KL Rahul is set to be dropped from the T20I team.
KL Rahul's poor form continues
Rahul has been in a bad phase since the end of the IPL 2022. He failed to deliver in key games, resulting India losing them. There are reports that say, Hardik Pandya will lead the team in both ODIs and T20Is.
Loss against Bangladesh hurts Team India
India recently lost the three-match Test series vs Bangladesh 1-2. Rohit Sharma has totally failed as captain and the Indian team looked off-colour during the entire tour. It was only the last game where Ishan Kishan was promoted in the absence of Rohit Sharma ended up scoring a terrific century.
“The old committee will probably select the Sri Lanka white ball squad," a BCCI source privy to the development told PTI on conditions of anonymity. "As of now, it doesn’t look like Rohit Sharma’s finger will heal enough before the T20Is and in that case, Hardik will lead the side. As far as KL Rahul is concerned, his T20I days seem to be numbered.”
