SPORTS IND vs SL: "Great sign for us going into the World Cup," Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma praise India star player's impeccable performance Harshit Jan 16, 2023 05:55 GMT IND vs SL: India skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli heaped praise for Mohammed Siraj who has been in some sensational form in recent months in One Day Internationals. In the absence of star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siraj has emerged as India's most consistent bowler in ODIs. He was also picked as BCCI's best ODI bowler in 2022 after the speedster picked crucial wickets at an important phase last year. Siraj returned with the figures of 4/32 in the last ODI vs Sri Lanka where India managed to register the biggest win in formats history by 317 runs. Rohit, Kohli praise Siraj "(Mohammed) Shami has always been there for us but the way Siraj has come in and done with the new ball has been has been outstanding. He has taken the maximum number of wickets in the powerplay, which was an issue for us early. He is always making the batters think, which is a great sign for us going into the World Cup," Kohli said at the post-match presentation after India's 317-run win over Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI. "Good to see how he (Siraj) was bowling and he deserved all those slips. He is a rare talent, the way he has come up over the last few years is good to see. We tried all sorts of things (to get his fifer) but it didn't happen, unfortunately. But the four wickets are all his and the fifers will come. He has a few tricks up his sleeves which he is working on and it's there to see," skipper Rohit Sharma said. Who will sit out now? Siraj who has outplayed Ishant Sharma from the Test setup has now taken over the charge from either Jasprit Bumrah or Bhuvneshwar Kumar who are currently injured.
