Gill smashed 14 fours and two sixes till the time he crossed the hundred mark. Gill the lone challenger New Zeland bowlers have also bowled brilliantly so far as they removed India captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli early in the innings. Suryakumar Yadav held the crease for sometime but also got out after scoring just 31 runs batting at Number 5. Ishan Kishan who got opportunity to play for the first time after smashing a double hundred in Bangladesh also failed to showcase his talent in the middle-order. Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat in the series opener against New Zealand. "We will bat first. Looks a good pitch, little dry. We want to make sure we want to bowl under lights and defend score. We did well against Sri Lanka, but this is a different challenge. Important for us to keep the momentum going. The spirit in the team is really good. Three changes. Hardik is back, Shardul is back. SKY and Ishan are playing as well," said Rohit at toss.
