 IND vs NZ: Shubman Gill breaks Sachin Tendulkar's 24-year-old record after smashing 208 vs New Zealand

IND vs NZ: Shubman Gill has performed exceptionally well vs New Zealand to get Indian team to a good total in the first ODI. Gill scored an impressive double hundred to book his name in the history books. The 23-year-old smashed 208 runs with the help of 19 fours and 8 sixes. In his special knock, he broke several records like he became just the fifth Indian to smash a double hundred, he is the youngest player to score 200.

Meanwhile, he broke Sachin Tendulkar's big record against New Zealand in ODI cricket. Shubman surpassed Tendulkar to become he highest individual scorer against New Zealand in ODIs.

Gill has joined elusive list of cricketers who had scored double hundreds. Before him only, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Ishan Kishan, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman.

Knock under pressure

Gill was playing at the top-order in place of Ishan Kishan who also scored a double ton recently. After team management decided to play Gill in place of Kishan, the 23-year-old faced a lot of backlash along with the Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid-led management.

This was Gill’s third international ton and he is the youngest batter to reach the mark of 200 in ODIs.
