Iyer will now move to National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further process. “Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a back injury. He will be heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further assessment and management. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Rajat Patidar as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer,” BCCI said in a release. Suryakumar had to wait for his chance during the recent series as Iyer and KL Rahul have scored tons of runs for India since the 2019 World Cup. Rajat Patidar has been named as Iyer's replacement for the New Zealand ODIs. He is yet to get his India cap but going with his last year's performance in limited-overs, Patidar is the best option for the team in the middle-overs.
