At Mirpur's Shere Bangla National Stadium, India overcame a batting collapse to achieve the mark in the first session of the penultimate day while chasing 145 for victory on a turning surface. In their previous one-day international series, Bangladesh had won by a score of 2-1. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul could not to much in the series and their form has come as a concern before the home series. After Rohit Sharma's thumb injury, KL Rahul was made the stand-in skipper. With this victory, India has defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the two-match Test series. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan took five and two wickets, respectively, while Team India was attempting to chase 145. Later, a magnificent 71-run partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin propelled Team India to a three-wicket victory. Axar Patel also scored 34 runs in addition to them. However, they could have broken that too, if there were more runs. The highest 8th wicket stand came for India in their first match as L Amar Singh - Lall Singh scored 74 runs vs England at lord's in 1932. Second highest ever came today as Shreyas Iyer and Ashwin scored 71*. Meanwhile, the third highest came in 1985 from Kapil Dev - L Sivaramakrishnan against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
