RCB top order fails again

Heather Knight played a brilliant cameo in the end scoring 30* off 11 but regular wickets from the other end resulted in the defeat. With the defeat, Royal Challengers Bangalore has reached the bottom spot of the table. Their chances of advancing to the next round have started to turn bleak as well.

Chasing the target, RCB had a good start in the match. However, skipper Smriti Mandhana failed to capitalise on the moment and was dismissed with a score of 18 off 14 balls, hitting three boundaries. Sophie Devine then continued to lead the charge as she scored 66 off 45 balls. Meanwhile, Ellyse Perry was also dismissed with a score of 32 off 25 balls. Gardner picked a three-wicket haul while Sutherland grabbed two wickets and Mansi Joshi picked a wicket.

Quick-fire batting from Harleen and Dunkley

Earlier, Gujarat Giants opted to bat first after winning the toss. They were also win-less in the tournament until that time. Opener Meghana scored just 8 off 11, however, Dunkley and Harleen took up the charge later and scored 65 off 28 and 67 off 45, respectively. Gardner scored 19, Hemalatha scored 16, and Sutherland scored 14 runs. Apart from this, no other batter could play a significant part in the match.

Shreyanka Patil and Heather Knight picked a couple of wickets while Renuka and Meghan also grabbed a wicket each. However, the damage had been done in the start itself and some quick wickets, in the end, gave RCB momentum.
