Ganguly confirms Southampton will host World Test Championship finals

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that India will play their first World Test Championship final against New Zealand from June 18 to June 22 at the Ages Bowl Stadium in Southampton. Actually, earlier this match was to be held at Lord's, but now it will be at Southampton Stadium after taking the stock at the facilities of the stadium.

The Southampton Stadium has been the World-Class Stadium in the lockdown times and also hosted the West Indies series and Pakistan series when the cricket has just started amid the COVID pandemic.

Sourav Ganguly underwent a bypass surgery a month ago due to which he was on medical break, but since he has announced that there is hope that he is fit to travel to the UK and he showed his desire to go there and watch the finals.

"It has been decided a long time ago. They have the hotel, which makes it easier for them to control (the bio-secure environment)," Ganguly told India Today news channel.

The Indian team has been the top contender for the mega cup since it was introduced, the way Virat Kohli-led Indian side has performed since 2015 was absolutely brilliant. Now team India is in the finals of the most awaited Test Championship.

New Zealand will play a two-test series in England in June before taking on India.
