But amid all the celebrations, Saudi star forward Yasir Al Shahrani suffered a fractured jaw, broken facial bones, and internal bleeding after colliding with his team's goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais. He fell to the ground and didn't move for several minutes, during which the Saudi goalkeeper was terrified, fearing for his teammate Al Shahrani, due to the force of the collision after Owais’ knee hit Yasser in the face. Al-Shahrani was eventually stretchered off and gave the thumbs up to the crowd as he left, but the extent of his injuries were revealed once he got to the hospital. Reportedly Mohammed Bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, ordered that the player be flown by private jet to Germany for immediate treatment. Another talking point of the match was Lionel Messi scored one of Argentina's three goals that were disallowed before halftime.
