Tendulkar tweeted the following after sharing a tweet pointing out career parallels between him and Messi: “2011 India Cricket World Cup Champions. 2022? What do you think guys? #FIFAWorldCup”

Messi and Sachin both wear jerseys with the number 10. Eight years ago, Messi and Germany fell in the World Cup finals. Tendulkar received the honour at the semifinal matchup of the 2011 World Cup against Pakistan, whereas Messi received it on December 13, 2022, during Argentina's matchup with Croatia. After the similarities were brought up, Tendulkar eventually won the 2011 World Cup, and the Indian legend's query alluded to Messi and Argentina winning the FIFA World Cup.

Messi to play his last FIFA World Cup game
