Ecuador defeated host Qatar by 2-0 in the tournament opener and became the first team to beat the hosting nation in the tournament opener. "It was dangerous," one fan carrying a child aged nearly four, who had exited the holding area, told a news outlet. "They let too many people in. We never made it into the main area and I was glad to leave." The police took around 1 hour to clear all the mess for the safe conduct of the opening game. FANS RESPECT HOSTS QATAR While things were rather more tranquil inside, with fans enjoying the atmosphere. “I think Qatar is going to be a great host. Now that the games have started, the atmosphere is picking up. This is my third World Cup after 2014 and 2018 and it’s been well organised until now.” said a fan to the same news outlet.
