SPORTS Fate of IPL, T20I World Cup, Ranji Trophy to be decided in BCCI's meet Harshit May 28, 2021 15:32 GMT The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) will lock in a three-week window between September 15 and October 15 for resumption of the postponed season of the Indian Premier League, the fate of the T20 World Cup, and the Ranji Trophy. The agenda of the meeting is “discussing on the upcoming cricket season in the view of pandemic prevailing in India.” The surge of coronavirus in India has been devastating and resulted in halting all the ongoing sporting events. The T20 World Cup is all set to be organized in India but looking at the current situation in the country, it's just speculation. “Obviously, the main issue would be the IPL schedule. We are expecting 10 double-headers and seven single headers apart from four play-off games (2 qualifiers, one eliminator) including the final. The resumption game and final will be held on weekends,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on the eve of the meeting. According to the BCCI sources, IPL will be organised in the United Arab Emirates in the month of September. The BCCI can also look to shift the mega World Cup tournament out of India where 16 teams will be participating and the entire safety of the players will lie on the hands of the BCCI. “England Cricket Board director of cricket Ashley Giles has already said that England players won’t be allowed to play IPL as they would follow the international commitments ahead of ICC T20 World Cup. Hopefully, the president and secretary would tell us how the situation of English players will be handled,” a franchise official, who would be tracking the developments, told PTI. The English team officials have denied rescheduling their plans for IPL and also stated that their players will no longer be part of the tournament due to national commitment. bcci ipl Read More Read the Next Article
