 Cricket World Cup Super League to begin win England-Ireland series

The Cricket World Cup Super League is set to begin from July 30 with the beginning of the forthcoming series between England and Ireland. ICC confirmed on Monday, the kick-off start of this league will begin on July 30. The World Cup League was first announced in 2018 along with the World Test Championship.


Earlier the start of this league was originally scheduled in May this year and set to end in March 2022 before the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the dates for 3 months. The thirteen team league has also surged as the first step for the upcoming 50 overs World Cup in 2023, which will be organized in India.

Structure of Cricket World Cup Super League

The teams will march against each other for the direct qualification in the 2023 World Cup. The top seven teams will be the part of that mega event in India, while host India will seek a direct qualification to the 2023 World Cup. Last time when India hosted the World Cup in 2011, where the combined efforts of the entire team gifted the tournament to the hosts. In 2011 India also became the first team to win the title at home and now it's like a fairy tale for the hosting nations. Throughout this league, each team will play four series at home and away. They will be awarded 10 points for each win 5 for tie and no result. All the series under this league assignment will consist of 3 matches but the teams are independent to decide the number of games they want to play. However, the additional games will not be counted for the league point.
