However, an epic moment took place in 1996 WC between Sohail and Venkatesh Prasad that still echoes in everyone's mind.

Unforgettable clash on field

The unforgettable exchange between Prasad and Sohail during the 1996 ODI World Cup quarterfinal in Bangalore is etched in cricket history. These two usually composed players engaged in a heated argument, surprising their opponents. In that high-stakes match, Ajay Jadeja's rapid 45 not out and Navjot Singh Sidhu's impressive 93 contributed to India's imposing total of 287/8 in 50 overs.

The Pakistani opening duo of Saeed Anwar and Sohail got off to a blazing start, amassing 84 runs for the first wicket in a mere 10 overs. However, the momentum shifted when Anwar (48) was dismissed by Javagal Srinath in the eleventh over. Sohail's unexpected dismissal in the fifteenth over tilted the game in India's favour, creating a tense atmosphere.

Sohail, visibly charged up, aggressively struck Prasad for a boundary through cover and then provocatively pointed his bat towards the same cover area, seemingly attempting to unsettle the Indian bowler. However, Prasad didn't take kindly to Sohail's gesture, leading to a heated exchange between the two. Prasad had the last word by clean-bowling Sohail with a perfectly timed inswinger on the very next delivery, ending the confrontation.

The crowd erupted in celebration, and to further increase Sohail's disappointment, Prasad gestured for him to make his way to the locker room. Consequently, Pakistan was unable to successfully pursue India's target of 288 runs and suffered a 39-run loss following Sohail's dismissal.
