Cameron Green managed to take a one-handed catch, but the on-field umpires hesitated to make a decision, leaving it to the third official. Eventually, the third official ruled the decision in Australia's favour. The umpire's decision sparked criticism from former Indian players and fans alike. Shubman Gill also joined in by taking a subtle jab at Richard Kettleborough, posting a picture accompanied by clapping emojis. Ricky Ponting has now responded to Gill's social media post. He stated, "There will be some sort of fine or maybe even a suspension. That’s a direct crack at the umpire for the decision that he made. You cannot do that." Opinions were divided regarding whether Cameron Green "grassed" the ball while going down or if he maintained control and prevented it from touching the ground. Some believed that the decision made by the umpire was correct, considering Green's ball control and movements. Although Shubman Gill didn't display any overt reaction or dissent on the field after being given out, he did take to social media to share a few cryptic posts. These included screen-grabs of Green's catch accompanied by emojis such as "clapping," "magnifying glass," and "facepalm."
