BBL 2023: Steven Smith fires again, smashes his fastest T20 fifty

Australia batter Steven Smith has recorded his fastest fifty in T20s after scoring 66 runs at strike-rate of 200. Playing for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, Smith has revived himself as T20 batter with two back-to-back hundreds and amazing aggressive display with the bat.

However, Chris Gayle leads the tally of fastest BBL fifty which is also the joint fastest in T20s. Gayle achieved the feat in just 12 balls in 2016 while playing for Adelaide Strikers.

Smith's revival

Smith missed the initial half of the tournament due to Australia's home Test series against South Africa. He was ignored for a spot in the playing XI of the Australian team during the T20 World Cup last year.

He smashed 66 runs in 33 balls in the BBL game and his impeccable knock guided Sixers to 180 in 20 overs. Later Sixers restricted Hobart Hurricane at just 156 by picking 8 wickets.
