Bangladesh vs India: 'Scientist Ashwin,' Sehwag lauds all-rounder's rise in 2nd Test

Bangladesh vs India: It was a Test match to remember for all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin who delivered both with bat and ball. However without getting a five-wicket haul or even a half century, it was Ashwin who guided India to glory vs Bangladesh in the second Test match.

Former India batter Virender Sehwag has lauded Ashwin's crucial role in helping India beat Bangladesh and seal a 2-0 sweep in the series.

Crucial knock by the all-rounder

Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer added 71 runs for the eighth wicket in India's second innings that rescued the visitors from a precarious 74/7 while chasing a target of 145. Iyer was not out on 29 while Ashwin scored a fine 42 off 62 deliveries as India escaped from a risky position to win the match and series.

"The scientist did it. Somehow got this one. Brilliant innings from Ashwin and a wonderful partnership with Shreyas Iyer," Sehwag said in his tweet.

Ashwin's comeback

This was Ashwin's comeback in Test matches after being out of the team in England where Ravindra Jadeja was chosen as the lone spinner with his ability to bat better in the middle.

In 88 Tests, Ashwin has scored 3043 runs and picked 449 wickets.
