Ashwin bags ICC Player of Month Award

India's off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and England opener Tommy Beaumont have been selected as the men's and women's Player of the Month respectively by the ICC for the month of February.

The ICC issued a statement stating that Ashwin has recently been named the ICC Male Player of the Month due to his outstanding performance in the Test series against England.

Ashwin scored 106 runs in the second Test against England which was played at Chennai and took the 400th wicket of his Test career during the third Test in Ahmedabad. Apart from Ashwin, England female cricketer Tommy Beaumont has been selected as the Women's Player of the Month for his outstanding performance in the recently played series against New Zealand.

Beaumont had scored half-centuries and scored a total of 231 runs in the three matches of the three-match ODI series played against New Zealand.
