Ashes 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore's star player, Dinesh Karthik, has announced that he will be returning to the commentary box during the upcoming Ashes 2023 series, which will begin on June 16th. Alongside Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Clarke, and David Lloyd, Karthik will be one of the notable names in attendance.

Dinesh Karthik's first-ever stint in Ashes

Before his stint in the Ashes, Karthik will be focused on repeating his impressive performances from the previous IPL season. He was a standout finisher, scoring 330 runs with an impressive strike rate of 183. RCB will depend on Karthik once again this season as they aim to end their trophy drought. Also, this is the first-ever Ashes series in which Dinesh will take up a role, since, he has worked as a commentator mostly for India's matches.

The five-match Ashes 2023 is scheduled to begin on 16th June in England itself, just few days after the WTC final i.e. scheduled to take place between India and Australia in The Oval from 7th June. The Ashes 2023 will also mark the beginning of the new WTC cycle. Dinesh Karthik made his debut as a commentator for the official broadcasters of the England and Wales Cricket Board during the India-England T20I and ODI series in March 2021

Dinesh Karthik's work front as commentator

Dinesh Karthik was also part of Sky Sports' commentary team for the inaugural season of the Hundred. During the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand in Southampton, Karthik and former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar were the only two Indians included in the ICC's on-ground commentary panel. Karthik was also part of the commentary team for the England-Sri Lanka T20I and ODI series in July 2021.

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League saw Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a commendable performance as they secured a berth in the playoffs stage under Faf Du Plessis' leadership. This year, they will begin their season on 2nd March as they clash against Mumbai Indians.
