This news follows Australia's six-wicket loss to India in the second Test in Delhi. Cummins is expected to remain in Sydney for a few days before returning to India to participate in preparations for the third Test in Indore. Despite being down 2-0 in the series with two Tests remaining, Australia now have a nine-day break between matches, with the third Test scheduled to begin on March 1. Pat Cummins likely to return before third test During the second Test, Cummins played as the sole fast bowler in Australia's XI, but he did not bowl in the fourth innings of the match. India effortlessly reached their target of 115 runs to secure the Test victory within three days. While Cummins is expected to return in time for the upcoming Test, Vice-Captain Steven Smith will lead the side if needed. Smith has previously captained the team in Cummins' absence on two occasions since he assumed the Test captaincy in late 2021. Pat Cummins, the Australian cricket captain, has missed multiple matches due to various reasons in the past. Similarly, he was also unable to play in last year's day-night Test in Adelaide against West Indies due to a quad injury.
