 Wrestlers' Protest: Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Hooda demands immediate action by centre

Wrestlers' Protest: Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has come out in public to support the ongoing wrestlers' protest against the Wrestling Federation of India and said that the government should immediately act against the accused.

Hooda told media, "it is a matter of great misfortune and shame that our players, the pride of the country, have to protest on the streets today". He further stated that the allegations against the officials of WFI are serious and worrying.

Hooda demands 'strict action'

"The government should take strict action against the culprits by conducting a fair and transparent investigation."

The state's Leader of Opposition said the sportspersons who bring glory to the country "are also being forced on a sit-in protest".

"Serious allegations have been levelled against the Wrestling Federation and its President by women wrestlers. The Wrestling Federation of India should be dissolved and all accused should be brought under investigation," he said.

Earlier Wrestler Vinesh Phogat came forward to expose Brij Bhushan Singh and said many others close to him have also harassed women wrestlers in the past.

Vinesh expose WFI President

"Women wrestlers have been sexually harassed at national camps by coaches and also the WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan. Some of the coaches appointed at national camps have been sexually harassing women wrestlers for years. The WFI president is also involved in sexual harassment," Vinesh told the media.
