Today in Bengaluru, the 14th edition of Air India 2023, Asia's largest aero show, was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The five-day event will be centred on showcasing indigenous  equipment/technologies and forging alliances with foreign companies.

2. Later this year, it's expected that Indo-US Air-Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicle will undergo flight test

According to a member of the U.S. government delegation to Aero India 2023, a prototype of the Air-Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (ALUAV) built jointly by India and the United States is set to undergo flight testing later this year. Major General Julian C. Cheater, Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the U.S. Air Force for International Affairs, said in a press conference on the eve of the air show that "there is definitely progress with respect to the ALUAV; this project arrangement was signed last year, and we are expecting to conduct flight testing as early as the fall [September-November] of 2023. Both a range in the United States and one in northern India will be used for the flight testing, according to Major General Cheater.

3. Reports: $13 billion in arms exports from Russia to India over the last five years

Over the previous five years, Russia has provided India with guns worth over $13 billion, while New Delhi has placed orders with Moscow for military hardware worth more than $10 billion, according to Russian state news agencies late on February 12.India, which accounts for 20% of Moscow's current order book, is the world's largest purchaser of Russian weapons, and New Delhi has not officially denounced Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. 5. China intends to connect Tibet and Xinjiang with Aksai Chin railway

According to a new railway plan unveiled by the government of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), China will soon start building an ambitious new railway line connecting Xinjiang and Tibet that will pass through the disputed Aksai Chin region and run close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC).The "mid to long term railway plan" for Tibet, which was made public last week, calls for increasing the TAR rail network from its present 1,400 km to 4,000 km by 2025. New routes will also be added that would approach China's borders with India and Nepal.
