Republic Day 2023: Flt. Lt. Komal Rani set to unfurl Indian flag with President Murmu. Who she is?

Republic Day 2023: Female Air Force officers will be at the center stage on Republic Day 2023. From assisting the President to unfurling the National Flag, the entire nation would witness an Air India Force contingent of female officers on the big stage.

President Droupadi Murmu will be assisted by Flight Lieutenant Komal Rani when she will arrive at the Kartavyapath officially to commence Republic Day.

“The proceedings of the Republic Day Parade at Kartavyapath will commence with the unfurling of the National Flag and presenting of the Rashtriya Salute to the Hon’ble President of India. The President would be assisted in the unfurling of the National Flag by Flt Lt Komal Rani,” said the Defence Ministry, in an official statement.

Who is Flight Lieutenant Komal Rani?

Flight Lieutenant Komal Rani is a resident of Kurukshetra, Haryana and she is a member of the Indian Air Force's education branch.

Flt. Lt Komal was commissioned into the IAF in 2020 and she is the first from her family to join the armed forces.

The Haryana-born will walk alongside President Murmu when the supreme commander of India's armed forces unfurls the national flag on January 26.

Flight Lt. Komal briefs her duty

"Once the President arrives, the President's Bodyguard will give the command for the National Salute and unfurling of the flag. "On hearing the command, I will unfurl the flag which will be followed by the National Anthem," Flight Lieutenant Komal briefed her duty.

Flight Lt. Komal has earlier taken part in the Republic Day Parade during a big event at the National Corps Corps Cadet academy in Haryana during her college days.
