Parliament Monsoon Session to Commence Today, 31 Legislative Bills on Agenda

Parliament Monsoon Session: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on Thursday, July 20, and will conclude on August 11. Ahead of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections nearing, the session is expected to explosive, with each party throwing shade at each other. The monsoon session also holds more significance than ever as it is set to begin days after 26 opposition parties introduced a united front named I.N.D.I.A. 

Discussion on Manipur 

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said the government is willing to discuss issues permitted under the rules following an all-party meeting that is aimed at a smooth session. 

"Opposition parties have given many suggestions and our alliance leaders have also given. All the parties have demanded to have a discussion on the Manipur issue on which government is ready," he added.

"The government is ready to discuss all issues in the Monsoon Session. We have appealed to the Opposition parties to support in the smooth functioning of the Parliament," Joshi said after the all-party meeting.

31 Legislative listed items 

The government have 31 legislative items which have been identified. What we have to bring and what not we will decide later but at least 31 legislative items are fully ready now,” the minister said. 

Personal Data Protection Bill and the bill to replace the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023 are among the key bills listed for the monsoon session.
