Nagpur: NCP MLA brings her two-and-a-half-month-old infant to the winter session, CM applauds

Nagpur: Saroj Ahire-Wagh, an NCP MLA from Deolali in the Nashik district, decided to bring her two-and-a-half-month-old kid to the Vidhan Bhavan on Monday to attend the winter session. In a rare gesture, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised her decision. Shinde made time to congratulate Ahire-Wagh, who arrived at the Vidal Bhavan grounds carrying her infant wrapped in a blanket. The state legislature's members were interested in her.

While other lawmakers greeted Ahire-Waugh, the infant was seen sleeping soundly in her arms. Others took selfies with the infant. Ahire-Wagh was accompanied by her mother-in-law Kalpana Wagh and spouse Dr. Praveen Wagh.

"I have come here to get answers for my voters" Ahire-Wagh

"I am a mother and a people's representative. For the past two and half years due to corona pandemic, no assembly session has been held here in Nagpur. I am a mother now but to put my points and to raise questions, I have come here to get answers for my voters," Ahire-Wagh declared.

Shinde saw Ahire-Wagh in his office and asked about the infant after knowing that she had brought it with her when she arrived at the Vidhan Bhavan.

Chief Minister Shinde's remark

"It is undoubtedly difficult to make legislation as a representative of the people in the legislature and to be a mother outside the house. However, effectively carrying out both of these duties is a rare honour," stated Shinde.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, this is a first for the state legislature, and the Chief Minister publicly commended her for it.

This time, Sasubai Kalpana Wagh and Dr. Praveen Wagh, the husband of MLA Saroj Ahire-Wagh, were also there.
