MCD joins forces with PWD to combat water logging during monsoon

MCD News: To combat waterlogging situation in the city, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) intends to collaborate with other departments. The decision was taken after a meeting between Mayor Shelly Oberoi and MCD representatives to discuss preparedness for the monsoon season.

Waterlogging in several parts of Delhi

Janakpuri, Timarpur, and Mundka areas of Delhi reported waterlogging issues following Saturday's rain in Delhi. "Immediate action should be taken to drain the water in case of waterlogging during rains," Oberoi advised. The mayor also sighted instructions to organise an interdepartmental coordination group including PWD and representatives from other departments. The MCD officials said that the Drains fall under the purview of both PWD and MCD when it comes to monsoon mitigation. Therefore, it is crucial to coordinate, the official added. The Dayal Singh College drain, as well as those in Srinivaspuri, Gokulpur, and Patel Nagar, are now being cleaned by the MCD.
