Lok Sabha Election 2024: According to sources on Thursday, Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi are expected to run for the Lok Sabha seats from Rae Bareli and Amethi, respectively The sources state that nominations will be accepted starting the following week, and the final decision will be made after April 26. The elections' second phase is set for Phase 2. The polling place for Rahul Gandhi's Wayanad election will be used during this phase.

Rahul Gandhi's Defeat in 2019 Elections

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was defeated by Smriti Irani from Amethi. The Bharatiya Janata Party has once again fielded Irani for the seat. In Uttar Pradesh, an electorally significant state, the Samajwadi Party will contest 63 seats, while the Congress will contest 17 seats, according to the terms of their seat agreement.

In addition to Rae Bareli and Amethi, the Congress is also running in Varanasi, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur, its traditional strongholds.
