 Karnataka Assembly Elections: BJP releases 2nd list of 23 candidates

Karnataka Assembly Elections: On Wednesday, the BJP released its second list of 23 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka. This announcement was made a day after it released its first list of 189 candidates. Karnataka will have a single-phase election on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13.

list does not include the Hubli-Dharwad Central segment

This list does not include the Hubli-Dharwad Central segment, where Jagadish Shettar, a former chief minister, wishes to run for office. Additionally, it excludes the Shivamogga City sector candidate, where the incumbent MLA and former minister K S Eshwarappa has declared his exit from electoral politics.

Shettar has been told to make room for younger members of the party, but he has insisted that he wants to run for office one more time.

One Scheduled Tribe, two women, and four Scheduled Caste candidates are on the list.

Virupakshappa, a Channagiri MLA who was recently arrested by Lokayukta police on chareges of corruption, was one of the sitting MLAs who was left off the list. The Channagiri seat has been opened up to Shiv Kumar.

Nehru Olekar, a sitting MLA in Haveri, was replaced by Gavisiddappa Dyamannavar, and B Sukumar Shetty, a sitting MLA in Byndoor, was replaced by Gururaj Gantihole.
