 Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi becomes the top government university to file the most patents in the last 3 years: Report

Jamia Millia Islamia: According to a recent survey by India Today, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, filed and published the most patents in the last three years while ranking second among government universities in terms of the largest number of patents awarded in the same period.

Jamia Millia Islamia takes the first spot among all the government universities that have filed the most patents in the last 3 years. The university filed 114 patents in the last three years, followed by the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, with 111 patents. The third spot was taken by Osmania University, Hyderabad, with 99 patents. Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, took the fourth spot with 76 patents. On the 5th spot was Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavifalayam, Tripura, with 46 patents.

Jamia Millia Islamia, usually referred to as JMI is a major university that is situated in Delhi. It is acknowledged by the UGC and was founded in 1920 as a result of an Act of the Indian Parliament. About Professor Najma Akhtar (VC)

At Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI), Professor Najma Akhtar is the institution's first female vice chancellor. She also holds the distinction of being the first female vice chancellor of Delhi Central University. She is an academician at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA). She has an MA in Education and an MSc in Botany.

Her dissertation, titled "A Comparative Study on Conventional and Distance Education Systems of Higher Education," was for her doctoral work in education at Kurukshetra University. The Department of Educational Administration at NIEPA has also been under her direction. Her tenure there spanned 15 years.

She also served as the Commonwealth Fellow for the University Administration Course at the Universities of Warwick and Nottingham.

She also completed training at the Paris-based UNESCO International Institute of Educational Planning (IIEP). She was also in charge of IGNOU's programmes for training many national and international distance educators. Additionally, she has served as the visitor's representative on the selection and executive committees of several universities, including Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, Delhi University, Assam University, and JMI.
