 India’s G-20 Presidency: Infra working Group (IWG) begins today in Pune

Pune City will host two day Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting from today and there will be wide ranging discussions on various aspects of infrastructure investments. The meeting will discuss 2023 Infrastructure Agenda under India’s G 20 Presidency and a total number of 65 delegates will join the meeting from IWG countries.

As per a Press Release issued on the occasion by Government of India, meeting is being organized by Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Australia and Brazil are the co-chairs.

Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) : Key deliberation points

The G 20 Infrastructure Working Group will deliberate on below issues:

• Various aspects of infrastructure investments

• Developing Infrastructure as an asset class

• Promoting Quality Infrastructure Investment

• Identifying Innovative Instruments for mobilizing financial resources for Infrastructure investment

• Promoting Quality Infrastructure Investment

• Making cities economic centers of growth

• Financing urban infrastructure

• Mitigating social imbalances

• Directing fiscal investments for unlocking private financing for energy efficient and environmentally sustainable infrastructure

Key Priority of IWG (Inter Working Group) Meeting – Building resilient, inclusive and sustainable infrastructure

Promoting common objective for economic growth will be the top most priority for Infrastructure Working Group which will incorporate it in its G 20 Finance Track priorities.

Theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ will set the tone for 2023 Infrastructure Agenda and it will underline the message of equitable growth and lay the ball rolling for discussions on building resilient, inclusive and sustainable infrastructure.

The Flagship priority which will be discussed during the meeting of Infrastructure Working Group will be ‘Financing Cities of Tomorrow: Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable’. Various relevant themes pertaining to technical and managerial capacity needs to build the Cities of Tomorrow, Investors considerations in increasing private financing and financial capacity needs will be discussed.
