NATION Guru Purnima 2021: Know It's Significance And History Neha Kumari Jul 24, 2021 08:21 GMT From time immemorial, the full moon of the month of Ashadh is celebrated as Guru Purnima festival in Sanatan Dharma. According to Shiva Purana, on this day in the twenty-eighth Dwapar, the Anshavatar of Lord Vishnu, Ved Vyas ji was born. He became famous by the name 'Maharshi Vyas' due to a comprehensive description of the four Vedas and the composition of 'Brahmasutra', the essence of the Vedas. He also composed eighteen Puranas and other texts including Mahabharata, in which there is also an incomparable book like Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran. Jagatguru Ved Vyas and other gurus are also worshiped on this day. The Guru-Shishya tradition was born from the very beginning of the creation with the aim of expanding educational knowledge, spirituality and spiritual practice and making it accessible to every living being. In the conception of creation by Brahma, the Supreme Lord Shri Shiva first appeared a child from the left part of his body and ordered him to chant the great mantra of Om (Aksharbrahm). For thousands of years, that child did severe penance while chanting the great mantra of 'Kar'. As a result of doing penance for so many years, the child's body became very huge. Lord Shiva, pleased with the child's penance, named him 'Vishnu'. Lord Shree Vishnu's first name 'Vishnu' and second name 'Narayan' was also named by Shree Shiva. It was Shiva who initiated Shri Vishnu to chant the 'Karrupi Mahamantra', that's why he became the first Guru of the universe. And Sri Vishnu is said to be the first disciple. To save one's disciple from darkness and lead him towards light is guru. On this holy festival, the disciples offer some charity or dakshina as a gift by worshiping their gurus. In every age, the power of Guru has been pervasive in every particle like Parabrahman. A world without a Guru is only a dark night of ignorance. Saint Tulsidas has also written in Ramcharit Manas that 'Guru bin Bhavanidhi tarai na koi '. Which was like a biranchi hybrid. That is, without the Guru's grace, the soul cannot be free from the ocean of the world, even if it is similar to Brahma and Shankar. In the scriptures, 'Gu' means darkness or basic ignorance, and 'Ru' means its restrainer, that is, 'light' has been told. Guru is called Guru because he removes the darkness of ignorance from the knowledge of knowledge, that is, the 'Guru' is the one who takes us out of darkness and towards light. For equality between Guru and Deity, it has been said that as devotion is needed for the deity, so is the need for the Guru, because this relationship is for spiritual progress and attainment of God. The glory of the Guru is actually from the point of view of the disciple, not from the point of view of the Guru. A guru has a vision, a disciple has a vision and a third man has a vision. The vision of the guru is that I have not done anything, only made the disciple's vision towards that which is the natural real element. The meaning of the Guru's saying is that I have made him aware of his nature, I have not given him anything from my possession. The vision of the disciple is that the Guru has given everything to me, whatever has happened, it is all because of the Guru's grace. The view of the third person is that he has attained knowledge only through the faith of the disciple. But the real glory belongs to that guru, who made the disciple self-realized, led him on the path of self-knowledge. On this day, all the living beings worship their guru and take his blessings from place to place. guru Read More Read the Next Article
