Rahul Gandhi: In a fervent speech in Simdega, Jharkhand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of governing in favor of a handful of billionaires rather than the majority of the country. Addressing a large public gathering ahead of the Jharkhand state elections, Gandhi criticized the BJP’s policies, asserting that they disproportionately benefit a select group of elites, including prominent business figures.

BJP’s Alleged Wealth Concentration Among Billionaires

Rahul Gandhi claimed that the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, aims to transfer land, resources, and wealth to a small circle of billionaires. “I want this country to be run by 90% of its people, but BJP wants it governed by just a few individuals – PM Modi, HM Shah, and a few industrialists,” he said, accusing the government of prioritizing billionaires over the needs of the public.

Highlighting what he called “double standards” in loan waivers, Gandhi argued that while large debts of elite businesses have been forgiven, the government neglects the financial struggles of small farmers. Gandhi stated, “PM Modi waived off Rs 16 lakh crore for 25 elites. There’s not a single tribal, Dalit, or backward-class individual among them,” emphasizing that this exclusionary practice undermines social justice.

Advocating for the Majority's Role in Governance

Gandhi concluded by urging for a more inclusive governance model, one that serves the wider population. “If this nation is to be run fairly, it will be led by 90% of its people, not just 2-3 individuals,” he stated, underscoring his call for a system that prioritizes ordinary citizens over a small elite group.
