S Jaishankar: India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, recently highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarkable ability to connect with global leaders. Jaishankar’s comments came in the context of the shifting global power dynamics and India's growing influence in world affairs. According to Jaishankar, India stands confident, not nervous, about the potential return of Donald Trump to the White House. During a discussion at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Aditya Birla Group Scholarships Programme in Mumbai, S. Jaishankar acknowledged the shifting global power balance. He remarked, "I know today a lot of countries are nervous about the US, but we are not one of them." This comment came as a response to concerns about the outcome of the US Presidential elections and the return of Donald Trump to White House. Jaishankar stressed that India, with its growing economic weight and increasing global presence, is not intimidated by the changes in the global landscape.

A key point Jaishankar made was regarding PM Modi’s ability to build solid relationships with multiple U.S. Presidents. Jaishankar recalled that after Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential elections 2024, PM Modi was among the first leaders to call Trump to congratulate him.

From Obama to Trump and now Biden, PM Modi’s consistency in maintaining positive relations with the U.S. leadership has greatly benefited India’s global standing. Jaishankar further stressed that PM Modi’s visits to Washington, D.C., marked significant milestones in strengthening ties with the United States, a country that continues to play a key role in global politics.
