Delhi: 2 Killed, 13 Others Rescued After Fire Breaks Out at Senior Citizen Care Home in Greater Kailash

Delhi: A fire broke out in a senior citizen care home in the Greater Kailash-II region of the national capital early Sunday, killing two people and injuring six, according to news agency ANI. According to the report, both fatalities were already dead by the time the fire was doused, and six people were evacuated from the E Block building.

When did the incident took place?

The incident was reported by phone at 5:15 a.m., and four fire tenders were hurried to the scene to extinguish the flames, according to officials.

According to officials, a team from the fire department and the police department arrived quickly and began the relief and rescue operation.

About the casualty

"The fire was fully out by 7 a.m.," officials noted. The origin of the fire is being investigated.

According to Chandan Chowdhary, the Delhi Commissioner of Police (South Delhi), 13 persons were rescued from the building, including senior folks and their attendants.

“Two died, 13 people have been evacuated safely out of which one is in critical condition and has been admitted to Max Hospital. Among those rescued are senior citizens and their attendants.”

"We are checking the validity (NOC of care home). The cause of the fire is being ascertained," she continued.
