BJP Politician Khushbu Sundar's old tweet goes viral after Rahul Gandhi's disqualification, context explained here

Khushbu Sundar: An old tweet from BJP politician Khushbu Sundar from 2018 has gone viral in the wake of Rahul Gandhi being disqualified from serving as a Lok House MP. "Har #Modi ke aage #bhrashtachaar surname laga hua hai..toh baat ko no samjho..#Modi mutlab #bhrashtachaar..let's change the meaning of #Modi to corruption..suits better..#Nirav #Lalit #Namo = corruption.."he then-Congress spokesperson wrote in the tweet.

Rahul Gandhi made the statement in Karnataka in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections

Her statement is practically an exact clone of one made by Rahul Gandhi in 2019 for which he was sentenced to two years in prison. Rahul Gandhi made the following statement while running for office in Karnataka in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections: "I have an enquiry. Why do all robbers, whether they go by the names Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, or Narendra Modi, have "Modi" in their names? How many more of these Modis will be released is unknown."

Khushbu Sundar had defected from the Congress to the BJP in 2020

Rahul Gandhi was the subject of a complaint from Gujarat BJP MLA Purnesh Modi who said that Rahul Gandhi's comments were offensive to the whole Modi community. Congress supporters are reposting Khushbu Sundar's tweet and inquiring as to whether Purnesh Modi will bring a case against Sundar as well since Rahul Gandhi was disqualified for making a similar comment. Just before the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, Khushbu Sundar had defected from the Congress to the BJP in 2020. Digvijaya Singh, a Rajya Sabha member and leader of the Congress, posed the following question to Prime Minister Narendra Modi: "Would you make one of your students named Modi file a defamation lawsuit against Khushbu Sundar too?"

The BJP politician hasn't commented on Khushbu Sundar's tweet, which hasn't been removed yet. She stated on Friday following Rahul Gandhi's expulsion from the Lok Sabha, "He had said few days back that he is unfortunately a parliamentarian. Her words have come true." Also, she criticised Rahul Gandhi for destroying the ordinance that might have saved him, saying, "Manmohan Singh ji wanted to bring in an ordinance on SC judgment passed in 2013. @RahulGandhi tore it into pieces. Ironically, his disqualification comes from the same judgment."

National government is engaging in a political vendetta

Rahul Gandhi would be ineligible to run for office for eight years after being disqualified due to the defamation lawsuit (two years running with the sentence and six years under the Representation of the People Act, 1951). The national government, according to the Congress party, is engaging in a "political vendetta" as a result of the disqualification.
