Coronavirus Updates: 8,582 New Cases In India, 4 Deaths

India reports 8,582 fresh Covid-19 cases today and the active cases have risen to 44,513. The active caseload currently stands at 0.10% while the recovery rate is at 98.68%. The death toll climbed to 5,24,761 with four fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The daily positivity rate recorded yesterday was 2.41 per cent. Nearly 195 crore vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country.

With 1,745 new Covid-19 cases recorded on Saturday, the count of active patients rose to over 10,000 in Mumbai. The state, meanwhile, recorded 2,922 cases and one death. A day after recording nearly 2,000 new cases, the daily caseload in Mumbai declined slightly on Saturday.

Karnataka recorded 562 new Covid-19 cases, of which 545 were registered in Bengaluru alone. The positivity rate for the day was 2.07 per cent. The total number of active Covid-19 cases in Karnataka was 3,387, with capital Bengaluru having 3,263 cases. The government has ramped up testing in the wake of a surge in cases in the last one week, sources said. A total of 27,123 people in the state got tested for the infectious disease Saturday.
