Kabali producer KP Chowdhary arrested for possession of cocaine

KP Chowdhary, a Tollywood producer, has reportedly been arrested on Tuesday for possession of drugs. According to media reports, Chowdhary, who was one of the producers of Rajinikanth starrer Kabali, has been arrested by the Cyberabad Police on June 13. He was apprehended by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Kismatpur, Hyderabad. The police have recovered 90 sachets of cocaine from him weighing 82.75 grams in his possession. 

KP Chowdhary’s Goa adventures

An India Today report has suggested KP Chowdhry was in Goa from where he procured the drugs. While he has procured 100 sachets, the police have recovered 90 sachets from him. The report further added that he was leaving to distribute cocaine to consumers when the police nabbed him. As per officials involved in the matter, the investigation into an earlier case detected by the Cyberabad Police was instrumental in the arrests of KP Chowdhary. 

Tollywood drug controversies

Tollywood has previously, too, found itself embroiled in drug controversies. In 2021, NCB quizzed many Tollywood celebs in relation to the drug racket prevailing in the film industry. Prior to this, the 2017 drug scandal in the Telugu film industry had revealed the dark side of showbiz.
