New Schedule Announced for UGC NET 2024 June Exams, Check Key Dates and Details

UGC NET 2024: New dates for the June 2024 session of the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) have been announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The UGC NET 2024 June exams will now take place on a computer, replacing the previous pen and paper (offline) format, from August 21 to September 4.

Key Changes and New Dates for UGC NET 2024

In addition to the revised schedule for UGC NET June 2024, the NTA has also announced dates for other significant exams. The Joint CSIR UGC NET will take place from July 25 to 27, while the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2024 is scheduled for July 10. Meanwhile, the All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2024 will proceed as originally planned on July 6.

Reasons Behind the Rescheduled UGC NET 2024

Initially, over 9 lakh students took part in the UGC NET June 2024 test, which was held on June 18 in two sessions across 317 locations. On June 19, however, the exam was unexpectedly cancelled. Following feedback from the Ministry of Home Affairs' Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), which suggested that the exam's integrity could have been compromised, the Ministry of Education took this decision.

Impact on Candidates and Future Measures

The applicants have surely been harmed by the UGC NET and CSIR UGC NET exam cancellation and rescheduling. But these steps are essential to preserving the fairness and integrity of the tests. Two times a year in June and December, the UGC NET determines eligibility for associate professorships, grants Junior Research Fellowships, and makes it easier for students to register in PhD programmes in Indian institutions.
