Education News: In some sad news for the students of Karnataka aspiring to study Engineering, the Education Ministry has decided to raise the fee by 10% especially for the Government Quota seats. Addressing a Press Conference, the Education Minister said that past governments had a mutual understanding with the Private Coaching Centers and before the election guidelines were implemented, the government introduced the fee hike. It was the BJP Government’s decision to hike the fee not us. We were informed of this decision when we took power. He added that now they cannot the uphold the decision as that will create panic among students.

‘We will try to reduce the fee by 5%’

He also said that in the year 2012, the fee was hiked by the government and later when a mutual agreement was decided between the colleges and the state government, that fee hike lasted for two years. However the Minister also assured that he will try to reduce the hike by 5%, so that students won’t feel burdened.

‘There won’t be any changes in this session’

Currently there are 1.1 lakh seats for the Engineering students of Karnataka, and 53, 248 seats comes under the Government category. So for now the fee hike will be the same but they will try their best to slash it by 5%.
