Giridhar Armane , a 1988 batch IAS officer was on Thursday given extension in service till October next year, by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. He took over as the Defense Secretary on November 1 last year.

7. Pakistan Economic crisis sees a new low as State Bank of Pakistan all set to hike rates by 200 bps

Pakistan’s Central Bank, State Bank of Pakistan is all set to hike the interest rates in an off cycle review this week. The rate hike is expected to be as much as 200 basis points. The current rate stands at 17 percent. Pakistan is in grip of a financial crisis and is looking to recover with the help of a $1 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
