Renault Kiger RTX Vs Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Renault has recently launched a new variant of its sub 4 meters compact SUV Kiger, Kiger RXT (O) MT. Priced at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Kiger variant competes with Maruti Suzuki Fronx in the Indian market. Let’s compare Kiger RXT with Fronx in terms of engine and gearbox, features, and price.

Engine and Gearbox

The Renault Kiger comes with two engine options- a 1.0-litre petrol engine with naturally aspirated turbocharger options. The former engine produces 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, while the turbocharged engine produces 99bhp and 152Nm of torque. Gearbox options for the Kiger include a manual, AMT, and a CVT.

But the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is driven by a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, good for 98.6 horsepower and 147.6 Nm of peak torque. This engine gets the option of a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AT. It is also powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, generating 88.5 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. There is a choice of 5-speed MT and AMT with this engine.

Features

Maruti Suzuki has equipped the Fronx with a host of features and gets a 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and connected car tech. Some other features of the Fronx include an Arkamys sound system, and a head-up display but no sunroof.

LED headlights, alloy wheels, and other features are standard on the new Renault Kiger RXT (O) MT, along with a more compact 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity. It gets electronic stability control, hill start assist, traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system for safety. Fronx includes six airbags, a 360-degree parking camera, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, and more.

Price

The new Renault Kiger RXT (O) MT variant is priced at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it more affordable than Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The Fronx comes with a starting price of Rs 7.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant and goes up to Rs 10.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-end variant.

Conclusion

In terms of engine and gearbox, both Kiger RXT and Fronx come with powerful engines and multiple gearbox options. When it comes to features, Fronx is equipped with more advanced features than Kiger RXT. However, Kiger RXT offers a better safety package with electronic stability control, hill start assist, and tire pressure monitoring system. In terms of pricing, Kiger RXT is more affordable than Fronx. Ultimately, the choice between the two compact SUVs will depend on the buyer's budget and preference for features.
