Tejasvi Surya: BJP's Tejasvi Surya Faces Case for Allegedly Seeking Votes on Religious Grounds

Tejasvi Surya: A case has been lodged against Tejasvi Surya, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate for Bengaluru South and incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), for allegedly soliciting votes on religious grounds. The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer issued a statement via the microblogging website X, stating that Surya had posted a video on social media where he was seen seeking votes based on religious considerations.

The case has been filed with the Jayanagar police station in Bengaluru, marking a significant development in the electoral landscape ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Response from Tejasvi Surya:

Following his participation in the voting process, Tejasvi Surya addressed reporters and commented on the electoral dynamics. He asserted that the Congress party is facing significant challenges and may not secure more than 30 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. Surya emphasized that despite the Congress party's attempts to launch personal attacks and unfounded allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, historical trends suggest that such tactics only strengthen the PM's position and bolster the popularity of the BJP.

Opposition Candidate and Voter Turnout Appeal:

In the Bengaluru South constituency, the Congress has nominated Sowmya Reddy as its candidate to contest against Tejasvi Surya. Surya noted an increase in voter turnout among senior citizens and encouraged young voters to participate in large numbers, highlighting the importance of their engagement in the democratic process.

Tejasvi Surya's case for allegedly seeking votes on religious grounds adds a new dimension to the electoral discourse in Bengaluru South. As the campaign intensifies, the response from both candidates and the voter turnout dynamics will continue to shape the political landscape leading up to the Lok Sabha elections.
