Morbi bridge collapse: AAP & Congress attack Modi, BJP for sprucing up hospital where PM is to visit the injured today

Morbi bridge collapse: The Morbi bridge collapse tragedy and Prime Minister Modi’s decision to visit the injured at the hospital today has become an insensitive political slanging match for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress party. In an effort to score brownie points, they targeted the Morbi Civil hospital where the injured were admitted since it was being spruced up for the PM’s visit. Political parties alleged that the hospital was being administered a fresh coat of paint to cover up its flaw and help the PM hold ‘photoshoots’ to garner publicity from the human tragedy.

AAP’s official Twitter handle allegedly shows the hospital being painted and remarked: "141 people are dead, hundreds are missing, no action has been taken against the real culprits, but BJP workers are busy covering up to prepare for the photoshoot."

New tiles

Not to be left behind, the Congress party too shared pictures and said not only was  the hospital being freshly painted but said new tiles were being installed to prepare for PM's visit and said, "They are not ashamed! So many people died and they are engaged in preparing for an event."

Gujarat Congress spokesperson Hemang Raval took the opportunity to deride the BJP saying: "When so many people are dying, painting and decoration work is happening at the civil hospital in Morbi. The BJP is only known for its event management. There are two types of disasters but the BJP in Gujarat is the third type of disaster. Instead of painting and decorating, they should ensure that the patients get proper treatment."

When asked, workers detailed to carry out the repair work and were  brought from Rajkot, said the entire hospital was buzzing with cleaning and repair work.

It may be mentioned that on Sunday evening more than a century-old  suspension bridge collapsed in Gujarat's Morbi district, leading to the death of more than 130 people.
