NATION Gujarat Congress writes to Election Commission of India over PM Modi’s procession after casting votes Nikhilesh Kunal Dec 06, 2022 05:27 GMT Gujarat unit of Congress filed complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) over a procession organized for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he went to cast his votes in a polling station. On this party’s poll committee head Babulal Patel stated that this act was a clear contravention of the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ laid down by Election Commission of India (ECI) and called for an action on it, because it gave PM Modi an unsolicited limelight in the Media. The PM conducting a road show on his way to cast his vote was a breach against the rules as it influenced the voters. The procession was broadcasted on all news channels which is not permissible under the rules. Congress alleged that it approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) with the complaint but it is yet to get any response. The Grand Old Party also requested the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take action against the TV Channels broadcasting PM Modis ‘ostentatious’ display of power.
