The Assam government is considering introducing the Cow Protection Bill in the next assembly session. On Saturday, Governor Jagdish Mukhi said this while addressing the first assembly session of the elected BJP government led by the new Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma.

The Governor said in his traditional speech that people consider cow to be a sacred animal and respect and worship them. The purpose of this bill is to prohibit transport of cow outside the state, as well as to implement all other necessary rules for its protection.

Governor Jagdish Mukhi told the House, "We all respect and worship the cow. The cow cares for us by providing nutritious milk. That is why it is considered a sacred animal. I am happy to say this That the state government plans to introduce the Cow Defense Bill in the next assembly session .. "

Governor Jagdish Mukhi said, "The purpose of this bill is to completely ban cow transport outside the state. The state government will adopt a policy of zero tolerance to protect cows and tighten those found carrying cattle outside Assam. After the passage of this bill in the Legislative Assembly, Assam will join such states in the country that have passed this law. "

Earlier, such a bill to ban cow slaughter in Karnataka has been passed. The bill provides for strict action against a person found involved in cow smuggling, illegal transportation, atrocities and cow slaughter .
