NATION AAP supports legislation over UCC, calls for consolidating consensus Ambuj Sharma Jun 28, 2023 11:12 GMT Uniform Civil Code: Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) has extended support for legislation of Uniform Civil Code(UCC) to be introduced in the Parliament. AAP's organizational secretary Sandeep Pathak has stated that party supports UCC on the grounds of Article 44 of the Constitution and consensus of all concerned actors and their representatives is needed before legislation. "The Aam Aadmi Party supports the ideological stance of the UCC. Article 44 also states that there should be a Uniform Civil Code. However, the Aam Aadmi Party believes that consensus should be reached after discussions with all religions and political parties before implementing it." Pathak said. BJP has no interest in resolving the issue Pathka's comment a day after PM Narendra Modi rallied BJP booth workers with commentary on necessity of UCC. However AAP's Sandeep Pathak suggests that BJP brings up issue to complicate to create divisions and win collections. Pathak said that the saffron party has no interest in introducing UCC and has no interest in resolving the issue. Their aim is to create confusion, divide people and win elections. Pathak suggested that Modi brought UCC up because he has no work to show for during his 9 year as Prime Minister of the country. Formulating Consensus Sandeep Pathak has advised government to not take an authoritative stance on implementation of UCC. He stated that some decisions are unavoidable and should be taken with precaution and there should be no authoritative implementation of those decisions. The need is to build consensus without which you cannot implement such a big decision over a large number of people. Without consensus some sections may feel alienated.
